Product Spotlight: Vortex Venom Optics
Hi, Caleb with Brownells here. Today I’m joined by Wyatt from Vortex Optics, and we’re diving into one of my favorite new optics on the market right now—the Vortex Venom 3-15x rifle scope. This optic has really impressed me with its balance of features, performance, and price. Let’s break it down.
What You Will Learn
In this video, viewers get an in-depth overview of the Vortex Venom 3-15x rifle scope, including its key features, practical benefits, and where it fits within the broader Venom lineup. Caleb and Wyatt break down what makes this optic stand out—like the included throw lever, adjustable parallax, and RevStop zero stop system—while also covering mounting considerations and use cases across the entire Venom series.
Benefit
Whether you're new to rifle optics or looking to upgrade, this video helps you understand how to get the most value for your money without sacrificing performance. It’s a quick, informative watch that could save you time and money when choosing your next scope.
Introduction to the Vortex Venom 3-15x
We recently completed a gun build where I chose the Venom 3-15x for the optic. It stood out for one major reason—it packs a lot of features into a cost-effective package. Wyatt explains that the Venom lineup is known for offering a great price-to-performance ratio, making it a solid choice whether you’re building your first rifle or upgrading an existing one.
Options Across the Venom Series
The Venom series includes three models:
- 1-6x for AR platforms or close-quarters use
-
3-15x for general-purpose rifles and mid-range shooting
-
5-25x for long-range precision builds
Each one offers similar design principles and quality, scaled appropriately for its intended use.
Feature Highlights
The Venom scopes come with a throw lever in the box for easy magnification changes on the fly. That’s a detail you usually have to buy separately. Wyatt also points out that these scopes feature exposed, tactile turrets, which are great for shooters who like to dial adjustments.
Another standout feature is the adjustable parallax, which goes all the way down to 10 yards. That kind of versatility means you can use this scope for everything from rimfire plinking to long-range engagements.
Why I Chose the Venom
Even though the rifle I built isn’t exactly budget-minded, I went with the Venom because of the feature set and value. It just made sense. I didn’t have to compromise on any of the key performance factors, and the price stayed reasonable.
Wyatt also demonstrates the RevStop zero stop system, which is incredibly easy to install. You just unscrew the turret cap, insert the included ring, and you're done. It’s intuitive, quick, and reliable—exactly what you want in the field.
Mounting Considerations
When you’re talking about rifle scopes, you have to talk about mounts. Wyatt explains that the 3-15x and 5-25x Venom models use a 34mm tube, which allows for a wider range of elevation and windage adjustments. That’s a big plus for anyone dialing for distance. The 1-6x model uses a more standard 30mm tube to fit common LPVO mounts.
Applications for Every Shooter
One of the reasons the Venom line is so appealing is its flexibility. Whether you’re building a carbine, setting up a rimfire trainer, or putting together a long-range rifle, there’s a Venom model to match. You get high-end features without needing to spend top dollar.
Final Thoughts
I’m excited to get back out to the range and spend more time with this optic. It’s been a great addition to the build. If you have questions or want to share your own experiences with the Vortex Venom scopes, drop a comment below.
